I am renting an old set of bobcat pallet forks from my local equipment rental. I talked with the owner about purchasing the set of pallet forks and he said he would look at his inventory and see if he can put a number together when I'm finished renting them. I am trying to put an offer in my head about what I want to ask for them. This is an older set of forks probably 10+ years old that has been paid for several times over. The forks themselves are very straight but the Frame that the forks slide on is bent in one area. The forks still work but they are off about an inch or two because of the Frame being bent. Looks like someone was digging out trees or something with it. I could probably take a oxy acetylene torch to the frame and bent it back straight if I buy them but my question is how much should I pay for them.

I called my local bobcat dealer and for a brand new set of 4k bobcat brand forks he said it is $1000.00 plus tax. So in my mind I wouldn't care to pay $400.0 for this old bent set of forks. Is that a reasonable offer? Too low or too high? Thanks.

As a reference, a few months back i bought a set of used forks for $400 and these were in perfect shape. Guy was a retired landscaper and had 3 sets for sale. If in good shape and not abused should outlast your bobcat. I'm in illinois...

Thank you I'll keep that in mind when I make an offer. It seems like used pallet forks are very high in my area. I can't seem to find a good used set of forks for under 600$. Knoxville TN.

try titan they are near nashville I think they make several types you can determine which is best for you , think about getting in and out of the door if you have a enclosed machine and the roll back framework.

Guy at the rental store said they were 4k bobcat pallet forks. I'm not sure if these are 4k or 2.5k forks but I know they are bobcat brand for sure. Maybe one of you guys would know. I'll post a picture of it. I haven't decided if I want to buy them or just buy a new set. He said the lowest he would take is $600 for the set. My bobcat dealer said a brand new 4k set would be $1000.00 plus tax.

food for thought, I know your mentioning 4 k and 2.5 K, but what is your lift capacity on your machine?
most cannot lift 4k, and many cannot lift 2.5k
so just cause something is rated for more, doesn't mean you need it!

yes we all tend to buiy more than we need, thinking its better or??

but some times we need to also be real with what our machines can do!

as for price
prices vary by area, and as you already stated, things are priced HIGH in your area
so, knowing this, odds are the rental shop also knows what things sell for in YOUR area, and is not going to give them away knowing he can get more for them!

condition can some times be a bargaining tool, but I think your seller already stated his stand on things

I too would maybe suggest looking else where,. like auctions, or local craigslist or facebook market place and like places, odds are you can find ones in better shape for a better deal than 600 for bent ones!

have you seen these? $

I palletize a lot of stuff and my forks are off about an inch at the tips. It drives me nuts. That's a big "look somewhere else" for me. $400-500 for a pair of forks that don't need anything but maybe a little welding and paint, and the forks are LEVEL is a fair price.

Mine are bent about an inch and a half and that creates all sorts of problems at times.
That said I only paid a hundred bucks for the forks from my dealer as part of a package on an auger with 8" bit, a tooth bucket and forks when I bought the machine. He was cleaning out older rental equipment. I was lucky to get the package.

I would agree with keeping an eye on the auctions and other sites. I got lucky and scored a brand new 4K set at an auction here in Ontario for $400 (Bryan's Auction). I then welded up a jib boom I can slide over the forks......super handy.

We have a set of bobcat forks at work that are over 20 yrs old. They have been thru hell and back jacking out curbs, concrete slabs and you name it. They are tough. With used attachments its you need to be in the right place as the right time. Watch out for new, Chinese forks if buying new. They're not nearly as tough.

I see a lot of brand new aftermarket forks on market place for 500.
I bought a used set made by titan for 400..

I agree a lot of company's yrs ago made high quality products, they actually seemed to care about there name being on things

but I hate to say it, in today's modern world we live in, everyone has gone to cheaper materials and using over sea's company;s to make some of there BRANDED products

seems profits matter way more than any reputation for quality ,
, and most buyers today seem to want lower price tags than quality that last long! just good enough , not many things over build any more, like some items in the past were! IMO

its a sad very disposable world anymore!!

I agree with that, 100%.

That is something we targeted with ourselves when we launched them. If you look at our specs, we are heavier and Higher gauge steel.(Similar to the OEM brands named above) Our forks and Frames are awesome and should be the last set any individual would need to buy.

But we are in the $900 range, but they are brand new and that includes shipping to your door. So, if you include time to hunt, fuel to go pick up etc. We are more in the $600-700 range. And we have 5% off right now on everything with Black Friday.
