How exactly does the remote oil drain work on a JD 325?

I'm doing the first oil change on a new to me skid steer. I unscrewed the plug from the remote oil drain expecting oil to come out but there is nothing. I opened the little access door around it but can't really figure it out and everything is all rusty because it was sitting in a bunch of wet mud.
This is what it looks like now with the plug out and the door off.

Moved this to the Deere forum where it's more likely to be seen by someone familiar with this.
Just off the top, I'd suspect that the plug you removed was just to keep the passage clear and you need to turn (carefully) the hex fitting. I'm thinking it might be like a radiator drain, when you turn it it opens up a tapered seat and allows flow.

Turns out the two hex parts in the photo split after a liberal application of creep oil and even some heat with an impact! I'm not sure that the guy I bought it from maintained it as frequently as he claimed.

Lets hope he did service it ovten enough to prevent damage.
They can be a pain to remove, i have an S250 that has this setup, it was horrible to get the cap off to drain the oil. The end at the sump had a small leak, so i deleted the entire hose.

You need to remove the actual oil drain plug from the end oil drain line. The bolt you remove just keeps the oil drain line attached to the frame of the skid steer.

You need to remove the actual oil drain plug from the end of the oil drain line. The bolt you remove just keeps the oil drain line attached to the frame of the skid steer.
