How do I tension the tracks on a Case TV380

I've done Bobcat and John Deere tracks that have two grease zerks for adding and removing grease from the tensioner. The Case only has what appears to be one zerk to put grease in. I tried putting grease in to tighten the tracks but it wasn't taking. I had the machine lifted off the ground but the tensioner wouldn't take grease. Do I have to loosen the larger nut ahead of the zerk to allow grease to flow into the tensioner or just pump the grease in? When I tried pumping the grease in, it just squirted out around the fitting so I'm thinking I have to twist something to get it to take grease. Thanks for any help!

I would try a pneumatic grease gun with a good end on it. My dozer does the same thing with a hand pump gun but takes grease with the pneumatic.
