I have a New Holland LX665 turbo that is smoking throw the breather hose at the top of vales and if I take the oil fill cap off Do I need to rebuild the piston and rings? Can I repair it myself or any ideas where to get a rebuilt engine affordable? N884T is this right? Thanks

Does it still start and run ok? If it does, don't be too worried, a little smoke is normal, if it pours out you may need a re-build as its worn.
If you still have lots of power, easy starting, leave it alone. You will be up for some decent money to re-build the engine.

Yes that is a exactly what happens as the seal between the piston and the cylinder wears over time. But if oil consumption is resonable and it still starts and has ok power, you might as well finish wearing it out. Chances are it will need a complete reman either way.
Here is a link to the service manual which has information on what the factory considers is worn beyound spec.

Yes the engine runs. In the winter or after 2 week sitting, I give it a quick shot of starter fluid to start right up (if not it just cranks and cranks) Saw oil on lower block and saw breathe hose was the reason Now I extended the hose out vertically out the back put a PVC vale on the hose (used it about 2 hours finish a job) Thought now I should fix it because a cloud if smoke and oil droplets on ground is not good Any cheap place I can get a remanufacture engine (n844T)? (I am in New York/New Jersey) Should I try to put rings, piston bearings in myself? (I have only done dirt bikes top ends) Please help for info Thanks

Read through the rebuilding section, but I don't believe you can just rering it. You would have to bore the block, new pistons and so forth, unless yours is still in spec.
www.engreb.com has these available,

Where are you at in the NJ/NY area? I might be able to help. I have aftermarket rings available for 1/2 NH price. I also have some oversize pistons. I could also sell you a Yanmar conversion engine that would drop right in. Drop me an email. I might be able to fix you up depending on how much $$ you are looking to drop in it. mdfyock AT yahoo.com
