Help, skid steer went dead on me, what happened?

I bought a John Deere 6675 Skid steer about 3 weeks ago. Everything worked perfectly. Today I get in it and turn the key and everything goes dead. I checked the small fuses, and even bought a relay replacement fuse, but nothing seems to work. Could the battery shorting out have caused this?

I am going to assume its not just a dead battery. When you turn the key to on, does your dash light up and then go dead when you turn the key to engage the starter? I am fairly weak help on this stuff, but if it were me I would start checking grounds. Usually that ends up being my problem whenever something electrical gives grief.

I have had good power out of the battery up to this point. I just turned the key and everything went completely dead, no lights, no sounds, nothing. It is as if a fuse blew, yet I cannot find one that is blown that would shut everything down. The only thing I can think of is the battery just shorted out at that instance and shut everything down. If anybody has another idea of what could have happened, please take a stab. Thanks for the reply coreya3212

I would check the battery too, they can just die without warning. Even if you put a meter over the battery and get someone to turn the key, if the voltage drops you know the battery is gone. If it holds 12 odd volts its something else.

does it have fusible links like a car would? They would be in the area where the power comes from such as the battery or starter solenoid. when they have burned out on our stuff it ruptures the wire insulation some at that spot.

From the answers I am getting I am guessing this does not happen that often. Today, I will try and get to the battery with the arms down and see if it is any good. I am not experienced with a volt meter so I may have to bring in a friend if it comes to checking every point. QUESTION: Does anyone know if there is any kind of safety override, that would shut everything down. I am very green concerning skid steers hence my name!

The engine protection sytems don't work like that,
You have a bad wire, or relay or cornection something like that.
