Help Bobcat S185 dies, stalls pushing loads I need some help figuring out what to do with my S185 It is a high hour machine and when I push a heavy loads Like a dirt pile the wheels won't even spin in the sand, the motor just Bogs and wants to stall until I back off on the controls. I have had other S185's and they just spin tires all day long with no Hesitation. My question is, do I need the engine rebuilt or do I have other Issues like air or fuel problems, not quite sure where to start. I just got the machine so I don't know the history, but there has been A couple times when the machine wouldn't start and I had to pump the Fuel bulb.

I'd suggest fuel and air filter change and then check cylinder compression. How many hours on the engine?

I changed all the fuilds and filter when I got the machine. It is a 2005 and it has 8700 Hours on it. It is a one owner machine I bought from a farmer. I will check the compression. Thanks for the input

That farmer must have used the heck out of it. 8700 hours in 5 1/2 years is 30 hours per week. 5000-6000 hours is around the normal service life of a Kubota engine.

I'd start by checking compression too. How does it start? does it start easily when cold?

One of my genius employees poured 5 gals of gas and 10 gals of diesel in one of my S185s and it acted just like that. Except it smoked like crazy. How's the turbo. Pull the intake hose and check for oil in the intake and slop in the turbo shaft.

Stupid question. Is this a 2-speed machine? I,ve seen guys hit that switch, and not even know they've done it. 2-speed is an option/ all the handles, rightside. are generic.
