I have a 1986 751 with the Peugeot diesel. The glow plug indicator light quit working. I pulled one glow plug and directly hotwired it and it glowed just fine. When I put a voltmeter on the wire to the glow plug, I am not reading any voltage. Is there a fuse or other point where the circuit may be interrupted causing the plugs and indicator light to not work. This is the same machine which I have a separate post regarding the fuel injection pump. I might add that prior to the injector pump problem, the engine would start even though the glow plug indicator was not working. I have been told that in warm weather, the engine should start, without the glow plugs functioning, with just the fuel and good compression. Please help with any suggestions to make the glow plug indicator system work again. Thanks, Ron

Near the air cleaner is a glow timer, i think you have a problem with it.
When you hot wire the plugs, does the glow light come on?
There is a relay inside that the contacts can go bad on causing it to not work properly. You can even get corrosion on the connections to the plugs from the timer that will stor it glowing.

Glow timer near the air cleaner, what does it look like. I did see a small round device with a button on the top. Is this it? I did not notice if the glow light came on when hot wiring the plugs , I will check that.

The round thing with the button may have been your air filter indicator.
It should be blue, trace the main cable from the glow plugs back, it joins to the timer box.

When I hotwired the glow plugs, the indicator light did not come on. I will trace the wire from plugs to see where they go and check it out. Thanks
