Machine is a 2004 Gehl 5640 with 1100hrs. Recently I have noticed that the RH wheel motor seems to jerk or skip when just starting to push into a pile of clay. I have felt it several times today while climbing a hill. It is definitely getting worse not better. Any ideas what it could be? Am I headed for a costly repair? Thanks

It could be a slipping drive sprocket or a bad drive motor.
Jackit up and check your axel bearings for slop (up down and in and out) and see how far you can roll the tire ahead and back. 2~3" is about right, more then that and your chain is getting pretty loose.
Open up the chain case and have a look at your chain and sprockets, bearings etc. See if you have any broken rollers or sprockets missing teeth.
