I feel really stupid asking this but I'm replacing my water separator and it came with a smaller rubber o-ring included. Does that go on the shaft that screws into the filter or is it not used? It's a Napa gold filter.
There's the main o-ring like all oil / fuel filters have but this one is a smaller one that looks like it matches up with the center hole of the filter...
