first use of 843 by novice

I got the new seat installed in my 843 after spending some time cleaning rust and priming the seat pan. Worked on scraping my dirt drive to get rid of potholes. But did notice a few things: 1) The fuel gauge reads below empty, but does move a little when I turn on the key. I added some fuel, but that did not change anything. 2) The voltage gauge reads the same voltage whether the engine is running or not. So I suspect the alternator. The guy I bought it from said he put in a new alternator. So unsure whats up. 3) The machine creeps even with the parking brake on and on level ground. Do I look at adjusting why it creeps (or replacing parts) or adjusting the parking brake. Thanks. Don
 
I would address the creeping issue first. If you have a disk parking brake and it is anything like mine, you can drive through it. A new alternator does not necessarily mean it is connected properly. Fuel gauge - Luxury!! The only warning devices I have on my machine is my nose (detects smoke) and my eyes (detects leaks) - LOL Cheers, SR

Don, as SR said do not worry about the gauges yet. The only gauge you should worry about working is the Temp gauge.

You will need a manual, its an adjustment on the main drive pump. You block the machine so the wheels are off the ground, lift the cab and adjust stops on the pump. Do you have a service manual for it?

Yes I have a manual. So the entire machine needs to come off the ground onto blocks?

Yes it does. Jack it up and put stands under the axle tubes so the wheels are free to turn while making the adjustments.

Are there any not-to-expensive "wear parts" that should be replaced when I have that area opened up somewhat?
