How to post images.

Before we start, I think I need to identify what a postable image is. A
postable image is an image living somewhere on the internet on a website. Images that are only located on your computer cannot be posted. If you would like to post an image that's on your computer to the forum, you first need to upload it to a website on the internet. There are many ways to do this. You could upload them to the media section of the forum(
http://www.skidsteerforum.com/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=52) which is a little tricky to do or upload them to an image hosting website such as http://www.photobucket.com/ or http://www.tinypic.com/. All of these options are free. There are many ways to do this but these are just a few examples.

I will now demonstrate how to post an image in the forum using an image I uploaded to the forums media section located at http://www.skidsteerforum.com/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabid=52&gallerypage=1&currentitem=5&path=463%20Bobcat%20Action!

Step 1: Find the image, open it (You must open the image, you can't copy the "thumbnail" of the image) and "right click" on it with the mouse to get the action menu to pop up and go to copy. You have now copied that image from that site.
step1a.jpg

Step 2: Go to the forum and start a new thread or post a reply.
step2a.jpg

Step 3: Paste the image in the area that you type in to post a reply. It should appear in the text area.
When pasting multiple images hit "enter" to move your cursur to the far left of the window before you paste or the photo will be to the right of the previous image and you will need to scroll way to the right to see it.

step3a.jpg

Step 4: Now preview or post your reply with the image.
step4a.jpg

Hopefully this will give everyone the ability to post images.

Good Luck!

I was able to navigate through the process of creating an album and picture upload. However, once there, I was unable to paste the images into my note. Also, couldn't copy the link there either. I can right click and copy the image, link or location, but the PASTE option is not available.

I'm using Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.2 and I read the message about paragraph issue, so is there also an issue with adding images and links?

I'll appreciate any help you can offer.

Select the image as you would text or a paragraph (the image only), then right-click and choose view selection source. Copy the selected text between and including the img tags and paste into your editor.

I did this using FireFox, but there is limited functionality.

I finally realized what you were saying. Instead of right clicking on the image itself, I highlited the text description under the image, then right clicked and got the "view selection source" option. You say to "Copy the selected text between and including the img tags and paste into your editor". Hey, there is lot of stuff there and I'm sure that I don't to copy all of it, but I'm not sure. When the window opened there was about half of the information already highlighed....

Is this the portion to copy/paste over to the post? Help!!! When I previewed this post, the link to the test image was there and will open the image, but the image itself is not included in the post. We'll see what happens when I post.

What you need to copy should already be selected in the "View Selection Source" so just copy that and paste into the editor...

For people that check this thread and are using Firefox, you may have some difficulty. You either need a plug in or turn an option on. I just gave up and used IE. It worked in IE.

Where are you hosting your pictures? I have been using Photobucket, and have yet to have any issues.
I use photobucket.

Yes, my backhoe attaches to the machine in the middle.
It was only on the quicktach for loading and transport so I could set it off and grab the 4in1 to get going at the site. Have to lift it to get started up the ramps on my gooseneck.

If you are having trouble with IE, try Compatibility Mode.
Also, running an IE emulator within Google Chrome does work, but it does begin to bog after a few screen refreshes.
