All hydrostatic drive machines need heavier oil, not hydraulic oil like you may think. If your book says 10W30, use it. I run 15W40 or 20W50 in my machines (whatever one is cheap).
Ensure you use the correct diesel grade oil for the engine though (assuming its diesel).
