It's that time of year again.... We are thinking of installing an engine block heater on our JD 7775 skid steer and are not sure which is the best route. We had a cheapo dipstick unit in last year that barely lasted the season only because the dealer didn't have time to install the block type unit. We are getting the unit ready with winter service now and are wondering how difficult the correct unit is to install. We will have the engine bay completely wide open to perform the service work. I was told the block is prepped for a heater but I can't find any info on the JD website. You would think they would have it listed as an option. Question is.......Where to buy the heater...........and the ease of install??? Thanks for all the help on last years issues. Tom in PA.........getting colder!!!

Look up your engine model in the www.zerostart.com manual (download it at their site) It will tell you what frost plug the heaters goes in. Then check the access to that location on your engine. Your local auto parts often can supply the heater for @ $25 and if access to the frost plug is not a problem requiring major teardown, then the job is just a few minutes.
