Hey guys. I have a 05 T300 that just blew a face seal on a drive motor. This is the first problem Ive ever had with it. Didnt have a warning either. I took the drive motor off and have it in two parts. (I unscrewed the big allen bolts) Found metal shaving. Now with changing the seal Im sure I have another problem. Maybe spun a baring? And to my other problem. The metal shaving. Im sure being in the drive pump Its problem in the whole system? What the best way to flush the system? Any ideas?

The metal will be the bearing, i'm not sure what is involved, but generally when the bearing goes, it causes major issues. I'm sure another member will chime in to give you details of what to do and check.
Check your case drain filters from the motor too, it will no doubt be full of particles.

Thanks for the great new Tazza. lol I didnt fig. the metal shavings in the motor were a good thing. I may finish breaking the drive down tonight to see which bearing it is. Ive read other posting on here about bobcats drive motors. Doesnt sound good. It sounds like the only preventive maint. you can do is change the oil? Im guessing with the noise of the bobcat running I didnt here the bearing going out. I only use it for around the house and other projects. I dont run it hard at all. I may put 2 hrs a week on it. I was kind of surprised to see a something this important go bad. Does bobcat have that much of a problem with these motors?

Sadly the only time you know there is a problem is when it fails. You need to watch the bearing oil like a hawk. If the seal goes and you lose the oil, it will take the bearings out.
I don't know if bobcat would call it a problem as such, its like everything, it needs to be maintained or it can fail. The problem is, not a lot of people know to do it. If you neglected the engine, it too would fail from using up oil and it will lock up. An engine is something everyone knows to service, but not a drive motor on a tracked machine.
I'd finish pulling it down and see if you can get away with a bearing and seal. Hopefully the metal has not yet taken the motor out....

Well I found two case drain filters. Dont know if theirs more than that. The one by the drive motor was clean. Now the one that bolted in the center of the unit that leads directly to the hydraulic tank. I dont see how that filter was working. Completly filled with metal shavings. I still havent finished taring down the drive motor yet. But by the amount of metal that was in the filter. It doesnt look good. I did check the oil in the other drive motor. Plug was at the 3 o'clock position. What color should the oil be?

I wouldn't be so worried about the colour, just change it. Check the oil when it comes oit looking for 'glitter' in it, its a sign of bearing failure causing metal particles to get in the oil. Sadly, the oil is not cheap, but cheaper than a new drive motor.
Hopfully the damage isn't too bad on the other motor though. It would be nice to have a case that was cheap to fix.

Well I broke down the drive motor last night. I know the manuel says I should have a outer bearing. I couldnt find one. I just found chunks of metal every where. lol I couldnt count all the peices in the hub. If we could post photos I would. This is complete bearing failure and everything else around it. Does any have a idea of prices for these components? The hub that the sprocket bolts to and the nose cone. And all the seals and bearing inbetween. Try the weight my options. Fixing it or buying a new motor.

I think it's right at 1,500 for the hub assembly , and an easy swop out , comes preloaded with the hub oil already in it , alot cheaper than 4,000 for the whole drive

If Im going to replace the hub assembly on my older style motor. Can I buy the newer style hub assembly and replace it with that? Will it fit?

yes the new style hub will work for you but you need to change over to the new style deeper sprocket for it to work

a name like voodoo makes me think you could be from New Orleans ?
Hey Fishfiles.. Yes I am in New Orleans. Question: I found a new style drive motor for my T300. I need just the rear gasket. The one with the 42 allen bolts through it. Does any one know of where I can get just that gasket? Or can I make one that will hold?

Duhon's should be able to get the gasket seperate , ask for Eric he is the most knowledgable , I have never tried to buy that gasket ------------if you are switching from the old style to the new style you will need to change the sprocket as the hub on the new one is larger which requires a deeper set on the sprocket , if you do need to swop over there is a guy named Jarrod from the west bank 504 723 4806 Industrial Tracks , he sells the deep sprockets for $336 and the shallow for $303 , thats total price delivered to your job , tracks are $1,060 and we have never had any trouble with his tracks , I stay away from the Solideal tracks , have you ever went down the side street of their building , there is a mountain of warranty claims there thats unbelieveable , the new aftermarket Taji from Duhon's is really holding up good and they are going for like $1,200 plus tax , the Bridgestone are $1,999 right now and I don't think they are worth the extra money anymore --------I was born and lived in New Orleans for 51 years , last year I relocted across the lake to Lacombe , I am a mobile independent heavy equipment mechanic , work on any type or brand of equipment since 1976 , I use to work for Boh Brothers and B&G Crane , have a Ford with a KUV bed set up with everything needed to get you going ----if you ever need some assistance send an email and I'll give you a phone number or Nextel 2 way [email protected]
