My name is Rob, I'm locacated in New York on Long Island. I bought my Daewoo 902 Plus (Skid-Steer) New from Truckloader in Smithtown NY in May 2003. I only have 290 hours on it. Just last week the head gasket blew. After the mechanic pulled apart the top half of the motor, we then saw that the compression escaping the cylinder fired on the block & gouged an area the size of a thumbnail on it. I was hoping to mill down the block, But mechanic said it was too deep. This machine is out of warrentee & I'm not getting many answers or help from dealer. The dealer does not even carry Daewoo anymore, just New Hollands. They did tell me that my model with the Kia engine did have a lot of problems overheating! I feel Daewoo should compensate me!!! O-Well!! I'll keep trying. I was wondering if anyone else heard of these problems??? Please let me know, Thanks Guys!!! Rob

You can deck the block to get rid of the score. An engine re-building shop will need to do it though. When they deck the block, they will also need to take a bit of metal off all the pistons. With the head and gasket on, there should be a set distance from the top of the piston to the underside of the head, called piston to head height. Any (good) engine re-builder will know what to do here. They simply put the pistons in a lathe and take a skim off them to get the height rite.
Your mechanic said it can't be done because he doesn't want to do it!
