D series leaking hydraulic oil cooler

My 318D developed a leak at the hydraulic oil cooler. I checked with the local Deere dealer and a replacement was around $1100.00. I found an aftermarket for about $675.00. I removed it and took it to the local radiator shop. They told me the lower tank has a "freeze plug" on the end that rusted. They sand blasted, cleaned, brazed and repainted the cooler for under $150.00. Needless to say, I was relieved. The foam that goes between the cooler and the after cooler degraded and had to be replaced. Deere wanted $58.00 for it. I used a window a/c insulation foam cut down using spray adhesive-worked great. I reinstalled the cooler and it works great.

I had an oil cooler rust out on my S250, i started it up one day and there was a river of oil sewing out behind the engine.
It was quite bad, that's what you get for leaving the machine out in the weather i guess..... It looked like like it was hit with a shot gun where the tubes join to the header tanks (if you call them that). I sand blasted the area and silver soldered the holes as it melted at a lower temperature, plugged one end then used compressed air and submerged it to reveal more leaks. I repeated this a few times till i got all the holes patched then gave it another clean and paint. A good 3+ years later it's still going strong.

That or the fact i'm a cheap arse
I figure why pay someone else to do a job i can do on my own, even if it takes me a bit longer to do.
