We have a trackloader 279d rented and the operator put diesel in the hydraulic redivide and ran the machine for 5 minutes. He noticed the fuel gauge didn't move so he stooped We have drained and replaced the fluid twice. There are no operational issues with the machine. Will there be in the immediate future?

There is no way to get all the diesel out of the oil, but the double drain of the fluid was a good move.
I'd like to think that you will still be ok, but being rented, you really want to get it clean enough so you can't smell the diesel that was in the oil too.
As long as the oil wasn't too thin from the diesel, there will not have been damage. Diesel is still a lubricant.

Thanks! There is no smell of diesel just hydraulic oil. The oil is red from the dye. Do you think this will be an issue and are there any other concerns that may be in the future from this mistake?

The dye may be harder to get out...
I don't see any long term issues. If it's running ok now, i wouldn't be worried. I don't believe the diesel would cause any damage to the seals.

It's a problem with the new D series. I would put a lock on the hyd cap so it doesn't happen again. I would change the filter, run it and change the fluid and filter again. The diesel can get into the seals and o-rings and soften them over time. I wish you well.
