Can I use Shell Tellus Oil 46 in S185 Hydraulic System

The manual says "use Bobcat hydraulic transmission fluid (P/N 6563328). If this fluid is not available, use 10W-30 or 10W40 SAE Motor Oil (5W-30 for 0 degrees and Below)." I have a partially full 55 barrel of Shell Tellus Oil 46 which says it's an ISO 46 premium performance hydraulic oil. Any idea if this will work in my hydraulic system of my S185 as I lost a lot of fluid when I disconnected my bob-tach and need to top it off? Not sure what's in there now, or if there are compatibility issues with mixing fluids. Later I want to drain the whole system and fill it up with this Tellus Oil if it's safe to use in there.

Is hydraulic oil the same thing as hydraulic transmission fluid?
no hydraulic and hytrans are different. hydraulic is used on closer tollerances for piston type pumps, hytrans is thin enough for that but also thicker for using where gears mesh, if you are reffering to tractors. That being said i believe i have read on here that is the same basic oil as bobcat hydraulic fluid though bobcat oil isnt that expensive thats what i use in my hydraulics. cheap stuff in chaincase. I just bouht 5 gallons of bobcat hydrostatic and it was only $82

Sorry i mean $72 for 5 gallons of bobcat hydrostatic/hydraulic fluid. Really not that expensive for 5 gallons. The chaincase i would say throw whatever in, but the hydraulic system i would say use good stuff as its a much more precise/tempermental system.
