Of course a high flow machine will always keep the cutter powered up better, but you can still do alot of damage with std flow. Grass is harder on your momentum and hp (to the cutter) then most brush.
It won't have the brute force of a pto cutter, hi flow or not, but the hyd drive tends to be much easier on parts. A door is highly recomended, there is a fellow on here make high impact ones for most machines.
You will notice I don't have one on the 160 either, but I have had things fly out and bounce back into the cab. I really should always use the door, mine is a bit a pita to install unfortunately.

Ken, I have a 7775 I think is pretty much the same as the 160. Would a set-up like this work on it? It has standard flow. Also would you mind giving more specifics about how you converted the hog to hydro? I need one of these but dont plan on using it for hire so I dont want to spend a fortune on a new one. I would appreciate any help you can give. Pictures would be nice also :) . Thanks
