I bought a Bobcat 825 locally, feel like I got a good deal on it. Planning on using it mostly for road maintenance, snow plowing, and general work around the property. I have a couple Q's though. The PO said its a little slow, and it is, but it runs really well, turns good, and doesn't shudder or anything. I changed out all 27 gallons of what ever was in there and it seems better but the hydro drive is still loud, but my buddies dad has a 2006 Mustang skid steer and it is loud too, are they normally fairly loud. Also I've been reading about this filter under the drivers feet. I actually had to excavate about 3 inches of loam but I finally found the floor under there. How the heck would one go abut removing the pedals. Do I have to remove the shaft collars on the pedal shaft because the set screws are pre-stripped on this model. I looked at it this week because I changed every other filter on the machine except this one, and I would like to change it but it seems a little crazy. Also where would one disconnect the linkages for the pedals, because there doesn't seem to be enough room where the pedals terminate on the left side of the loader frame and there is a cover over the linkages. Seems like a LOT OF WORK TO GET TO A FILTER. ANy help or criticism is appreciated, Brian

Hello,
where are you located ?? there was a couple 825 listed on Kansas City
Craiglist , anyway on the filter do the change after you purchase a manual , it will
save you alot of time and trouble . the manual says you need to raise the lift arms and install the cyclinder stop , i didnt think the 825 came with one , mine does not have it ,
then remove steering levels by removing the bolts ,
attach overhead hoist to the rops , tilt the rops forward
discont linkage rods , remove pedal assembly
remove floor plate , remove the filter element
insstall new filter and repeat the process to assemble .
the 825 is noisy , it is a 2 speed unit in low it putts around
in high it can move right along .
i have all manuals
operator , owner, parts & service manuals
you can call Bobcat give then the serial and they can tell you what year
the machine is , mine is a 1981

Im up in Massachusetts. I did get a manual and now I can really see its a lot of work to get to that filter. I will do it eventually, I just changed out all the fluids, 27 gals.....damn that was fun. Mines a 1980, besides your paint being nicer and having a door they look identical. One quick Q for you though does your machine gurgle for a few seconds after you shut it off.. Anyways thanks for the help, Brian

UPDATE!!! Just got done doing that filter under the floor and boy was that a pain. But on the bright side after replacing the Hyd Filter light is out and the machine drives and sounds a lot better. That filter was a little gift that keeps on giving. Brian

At least after all that work, there was a good result. What's the bet it was never changed from new due to it's location?

Well Taz i'm going to have to assume that someone cared about it enough at one point in its 30 years to change it, i'm judging it by the fact I found a Baldwin filter and not a Bobcat filter. Although the Baldwins are painted red and this one has lost all but a tiny bit of its red paint over the many years it was inside the chain case. Im guessing at least 15 years since its last change.

Well, you know it was changed at least once :)
