Bought a 1999 Gehl 5626 Diesel

From the guy I bought it from was told it was a 1999. There is no sticker with the serial number on the side were it should be according to the following manual. I downloaded the 5625SX/SK manual. Is this model just one year older than my 5626? There is the filter sticker on the rear cover that states 5626SX/DX and I am assuming mine is the 5626SX Diesel model due to the fuel filter numbers on the sticker. I noticed right off the bat after changing the oil that I took twice the amount that the manual said. It is a pretty good runner but still has a couple little things to fix. The Glow Plugs do not seem to be functioning and I have to see if they are all getting the voltage when they are suppose to. Do you have to heat the glow plugs to remove them? I have to check to see if the water heat sensor in the block is getting power since the gage is not working. Just going to play with the machine and keep it at the farm to do the misc. things. Thank You for your time. PS is this a Perkins engine?

Never worked on one, but generally you won't need to heat the plugs to get them out, but there have been times they have broken off due to rusting in place. Of they are really tight, wiggling them back and forth can help break the seal and not the plug.
I'd start with the glow plug relay, see if it's sending power to the plugs too.

Thanks for the information, I never saw a glow plug with a seal but I usually only work on farm tractors. I have no schematics for this so I will look for a relay if all are dead. I glanced at the water temperature gage and saw a double plug in lead, that was a surprise.

I did have power to one of the glow plugs so I bought 4 of the plugs from All States AGP at $14 each. No seal and the ones that you can get to come out fairly easy. The two in the center must have the Tapped Cover removed in order to get a socket on them. Have to change the non functional Temperature Gage also which requires the Thermostat housing to be removed in order to get the socket on. Looks to be a winter project since the machine will be put away due to the Michigan holiday coming up. I will also put a mechanical Oil Gage on the machine along with possible new tires during storage. Are the foam filled tires better than the air filled tires? How much extra do they charge to fill them with foam? Thank You in advance for the answers!
