Hello all, Im a new memeber looking for help with my skidsteer repair. Ive read a bunch of post already just not finding the info Im looking for. Ok it started last week fired up machine and went to change attachments, seemed like my left front wheel was locking up then freeing up. I dropped the bucket off and went to backup and it didnt want to back up. I ended up going forward enough just to get it into my garage (probably wasnt a good idea, but was out in the muddy field) I was hearing grinding in the chain case while I was driving it to garage. Not knowing much about these machines I called a mechanic buddy of mine who is a good mechanic but doesnt work on skidsteers. With his help we removed the front middle and rear chaincase covers. The left front chain was broke, once I finally got it fished out the chain looked good just one link was broke which I found later when I drained all the oil out. Went to the local bobcat dealer and the mechanic there said the chain looked good so I purchased a link and went on my way. My buddy comes back and helps me get the chain on and weld the new link on. I had already cleaned the case real good with rags and then with magnets, removed a lot of metal shavings found another pin from a chain that was all bent up, thinking it was left in there from a previous repair?? Ok we have the chain on put everything back together add the 8 gallons of fluid and fire it up. We still have the 4 wheels of the ground because I wanted to see if the wheels would stick (lock up).As soon as I went forward I could hear a grinding noise or a clunk I guess, same thing in reverse. I didnt push it hard, didnt want to do anymore damage. Lifted the cab back up, pulled the front chaincase cover and no damage to the chain it is still on. Ok so I was thinking a bearing in the back wheel maybe from just the different post Ive been reading. There is some play in the back wheels, nothing to bad and the front wheels seem real tight. My buddy is thinking the hydraulic drive motor, so he took the side cover off and removed the motor, the shaft seems very loose not sure if thats normal or not he didnt think so. So Im going to take it to a hydraulic shop and see what they think. Ok any thought on my issue with this machine, bearings or drive motor???? Any help will be greatly appreciated as im getting disgusted with it already
