Hand primer pump is not getting fuel. I removed the line and tried blowing back towards gas tank. Felt like the line is plugged. No air was going back to the tank. I was going to take the line off going back but it's almost impossibe to get to. Is there any other way of unplugging the fuel line? Thanks Brian

If it still has the original fuel pick tube in the tank there's a check ball on the end of it. That's likely why you couldn't blow back into the tank.
A common problem is that junk gets sucked up and clogs the elbow where the line comes out of the tank.
If you lay on top of the pumps you can reach down behind the engine and pry the elbow out with the pick up line to clean it out. You'll have to do by just feel because you can't see what your doing.
The only other ways are to pull the engine/pump assembly or relocate a new grommet and pick up to a easier place to get to.

Check your fuel shutoff relay, I had a similar issue and had to replace that reply and all worked.

another thing that could stop you from blowing back thru the hose is: the motor mounts get oil soaked and lets the motor sag down , it squeezes the hose between the fuel tank and the oil pan cutting off the fuel supply ----run it on a boat tank or a gallon jug of fuel ---- as the Ol'Machinist says pieces of an old pick up tube that deteriated in the tank into little pieces then get sucked up and stuck in the 90 degree fitting on top the tank is a common issue

I have same issue with my 864. A few days ago I went out to move hay to my horses and started the bobcat, it ran for a few seconds and shut off. My first thought was the fuel may have jelled since it was so cold. I tried the primer pump and just got a few spurts of fuel and some air. So I bought a new fuel filter and primer pump just in case. I changed the fuel filter and filled it with diesel before screwing it on and left the old primer pump on. It started right up and as soon as the fuel was out of the filter it died again. I pulled the primer pump and hooked up a short hose and tested to see if it was still working or whether it had a hole in it. It pumped fine. Next I pulled the hose off the fuel tank brass 90 and hooked up a new hose and the new primer pump and tried pumping straight out of the top of the tank but got nothing. Question: Can the grommet around the brass 90 leak air..? Question: there is another hose that comes off the top of the tank with a brass 90 and 3/8 rubber hose. It looks like it runs up under the engine. Is this a breather hose..? Question: I should be able to pump straight out off the brass 90 right..? I am stumped at this point... any help will be appreciated. Brian

There shouuld be two elbows, one for fuel out, one for a return to the tank, ensure you pull the correct one. It sounds lke your fuel pickut tube broke off, that's why you get no air. The elbow you see goes into the tank with a short hose at the end, the groment seals this elbow and the tank to stop water getting in, it does nothing to suck fuel up as such, so a small leak areound it will not be your issue.
The groment does harden up over time and with exposure to fuel, you may want to get a new one to make re-installation easier.

Tazza, What kind of an ordeal am I into when I pull the elbow and grommet to check the pickup tube..? I know I don't have a choice but will I need a new grommet on hand before I pull it or is there a good chance I can get the existing grommet out and back in..? I hate grommets...! Is there a fuel pump in the tank or is it just the lift pump and injector pump..? Thank you for your insight, I would not have thought about the pickup hose!

It won't be too bad, i have re-used them in the past.
I actually needed to use a grinder on the end that goes into the tank so it would squeeze back into the hole. It is still working.

Tazza, Thx for the tip on getting it back in. Any tip how to get it out? I have vise-grips trying to pry it out and no luck. It maybe that the grommet is hard because its only 8 degrees right now. Is there a trick or specific tool that works best to get it out and is there any chance of damaging the tank? Thx!

Being so cold wont help, i used pointy nose pliers under the groment and levered it and the elbow out of the tank.

My 864 is running again, thank you to Tazza for your help for sure. Here is how I tackled this problem: With Tazza's help I determined the pick-up hose had fallen off the brass-90 coming out of the tank. After many brain racking hours I took a 2'-0" piece of #12 stranded electrical wire and made two tightly wound loops on both ends. One that just barely slip onto the brass-90 coming out of the tank and one slightly larger to slip onto my retractable tie-down strap. With one end of the strap hooked to my cab overhead and the other to the #12 electrical wire I cranked a couple of times and wallah it popped right out. Next I went to the hardware store and bought a 1/4 filter, went home and put it on a new 1/4 black hose with stainless steel hose clamps since I didn't want to do this again in a couple of years and attempted to reassemble. WRONG... the filter I bought off the shelve was literally 1/16" bigger than the hole in the tank and there was no way stainless steel clamps were fitting down the hole either. So I went to eBay, found the right filter and hose and waited a couple of days for delivery. I used I used black plastic zip ties to hold the tube tight, and found they were too big to fit in the hole, luckily I had some really little zip ties that with a little help from a screw driver popped through the hole. I did not use Tazza's suggestion to grind the rubber grommet a litle before attempting to reassemble and wished I had. once I had pushed the zip ties through there was no going back. The grommet is nearly seated and I will attempt to get it fully seated when the weather warms a little more. Tazza does mention that the pickup hose is not dependent on the grommet being air tight so I can move on and circle back later. After reconnecting I was not getting the fuel up to the hand primer bulb as quickly as I liked so I attached a larger hand pump for transferring fuel to the hand primer bulb and it quickly pulled fuel into the line. I reattached the hand primer bulb, opened the filter air bleeder valve and after a few good pumps the air was bled out and a quick turn of the key and my sweet 864 started right up. Now onto finding tips on how to replace a lift arm cylinder seal ha!! it never ends!!!
