I have a leaking seal on the viscous pump rear on shaft the motor turns for the hydrostatic pump / transmission. I had the motor pulled and I'm trying to remove the splined gear off the shaft to get to the seal fi does anyone have any advice on what puller in can use to remove gear off the shaft. I've tried every type of puller and none seem to pull the gear off the shaft. It has moved a little bit but won't seem to come off .

I hooked up a puller to the splined adaptor, tightened it pretty tight then hot the puller screw with a hammer to get the taper seal to break free.
What I don't remember is if I took the bolt all the way out or if I put a spacer in to protect the end of the shaft.
The shaft has a taper on it, so it can be a real pain to get free.
When it's off, remove the snap ring, drill two small holes in the seal and screw in self tapping screws, use pliers to pull it out.
When putting it back in, I knocked it in place slowly and slid the snap ring in and tapped on it so when it snapped into place, it was right.
