I have an old 310 skidsteer that uses the Bobcat 6665606 ignition switch. Don't really care about staying original and was wondering what I need to look for in a more cost effective and locally available ignition switch? Is it a 3 position, 4 post switch?

You can get a universal switch for around $7. Most will also have the ACC position, which you don't have to use. Just pay attention to which poles the wires go to, and get the same type terminal if you don't want to change out your wire terminals. Chances are your wires have the ring terminal that require a screw terminal on the switch.

Will the ACC position work for the glowplugs? I just bought a 746 and I'm having a hard time getting the key in. I imagine at some point I won't be able to.

The ACC port should work for the glow plugs, but the obvious problem is that it should be a momentary switch so they can't be inadvertently left on.
If the switch is just getting mardy, use some contact cleaner and a few blasts of air until it works smoothly again, and follow up with some WD or lock lube.

OK. The issue is getting the key to first enter the ignition. Once the key starts to enter it moves smoothly.
