BOBCAT 630 U JOINT ADAPTER REMOVAL

Help Support SkidSteer Forum:

I can't tell from your picture if you have removed the center bolt that holds it on the crankshaft.

Well that might be an issue i was thinking last night. the center hole looks to have been worked over a litte. In order for me to get the pump disconnect from the engine i had to remove the 4 bolts connecting the U joint to this adapter. on the Pump there was a center bolt holding the U joint to it. so if there is a center bolt on both ends the only way to seperated the engine from the pump is to take the U joint at one point, which also has some issue do to clearance for tools. then realigning the U joint to the motor or pump will be very tough to do.
In my MM it does not give very good details on the engine removal.
this is a pic of the center bolt on the pump adapter I had to take a impact wrench to.

You're right the center bolt is on the pump end. The engine side is connected with four bolts.

yes Item 2 bolts on to the pic below but can not find any details on how to remove it. I have the pic in the media area under bobcat 630, that might be better to see.

The crankshaft on the Wisconsin engine is tapered. I can't find anywhere in any of the sevice manuals the procedure for removing the adapter. It may just be a press fit on the taper. There's a member(waynemags) on here that recently replaced a Wisconsin engine in his 720 if he doesn't chime in here sometime today I'll send him a message and ask. I'm out in the shop pulling my engine right now and don't have his email address on this computer.

hey sorry took so long. workin out of town and dont get on much. i had same issue with mine. no idea how and sketchy drawings. i took a good hard look and figure it was tapered shaft. i got a good heavy duty two armed puller and fabbed it to grab the backside. tightened it up a little at a time till it was about to slip off then heated up the adapter and tapped on it and she popped off. hope that helps.

Well no luck still, i think i will leave it alone, it will just be a little harder getting the u joint hook back up to the engine. Thanks.

Probably to late to help the poster but I just had this problem at the machine shop. We found that the crank shaft itself is threaded. We locked the crank to the bench, and we used a air chisel to impact the inside corner of the flat area going across the center os the "nut/ u-joint adapter". This "nut" is held in place with a ton a seizing compound, we also had to re machine the marks we made off the "nut", someone with more time could probably make a machined bar to fit in the flat area with a socket welded to it as a removal tool for use in an impact wrench(preferably a 1/2" or larger).
