on my bobcat 610, I removed the valve spool today, from a valve body stamped 2822 on top and just so we're clear, When facing the front of the machine, its the right valve body, which lifts the boom, but it is the left spool in the valve body when facing front of machine, though its attached to the LEFT pedal WHEN SITTING on the machine. I removed the large, about 1 1/2" dia. nut, then tapped spool out from the front. The spring on the rear of the spool just behind that large nut. The spring itself and the housing was very sludged and gunked up, so I cleaned it up. I dont know how this works. the spring is mostly compressed...the reason I took it apart, pedal couldnt move valve except for a lil wiggle. I dont see how the valve could get its 1/4" in/out travel needed when spring is compressed mostly. Stranger fact is when I bought it last year I saw it work, then parked machine for year to work on it, and now ready for test run and its stuck? help please

If moisture got into the return spring area, it can rust and not move as it should.
What sort of movement do you have now? i'd expect more than 1/4" of travel

I meant 1/4" each direction from neutral. As I stated the spring, as it was, is very deep in the stroke. Theres just no travel left

That doesn't sound like anywhere near enough, how far do the other segment move? it should move the same amount as the working one does.
Could someone have messed with the valve before you?
