Auxiliary hydraulic hose size question

The hoses are not good on my L555 auxiliary. These are the ones that run on the outside of the arms. I want to replace them. Today I looked at them and they are 1/2" ID x 184" long. The part number has them at 5/8" on right side and 3/4" on left side. So did some one replace them with the wrong size? Also why is right side different from left side in size? Can I have them made up with 3000lb psi hose for hydraulics? Need some help on what is right move. Thanks

It does sound like someone has replaced them before. 1/2" (or -8) hose should be more than sufficient for your purposes.
I would spring for SAE 100R2 hose (2-wire) for the replacements. It not only has a higher pressure rating, but it will be more durable in the long run.

SkidRow, Thanks. I went to a hyd. shop and they told me that 1/2" would work ok. They only wanted $420 for two hoses. My change purse was not full enough. Have to look around for a better price. Do you run your rototiller off your 440 and what size is it? I would like to convert a 5' to my skid steer and run it with an hydraulic motor. Next project. Ron

Do you run your rototiller off your 440 and what size is it? I would like to convert a 5' to my skid steer and run it with an hydraulic motor. Next project. Ron

$420 for two hoses, are they F'n mad? try making a few calls to hydraulic hose shops, someone would have to do it for less than that.

Tazza, I should have stated that the hoses are 181" with 1/2" npt female ends. I found hoses online for around $75 each. I will call them and talk about what they have. The hose sounds right. It is 3000psi 2 wire with wire braiding and it has the right coding. I will let everyone what I find out. Thanks. Ron

Ok, Here is what I will get. 2- 181" x 1/2" hose with fitting on each end with shipping comes to $108.45. It is 2 wire 100R16 rated for 3000psi. I ordered it from Discount Hydraulic Hose. Hope this helps others to save some money. Ron

Sorry about the post I just put up. I misstated the psi on the hose. It is 3980psi and is compatible with 100R hose. Sure wish we could edit our post. Ron

That looks good. You did a good job on the build. I was thinking of a 5' but haven't found a hydraulic motor that will have enough torque. My flow is 13.8 and psi is 2000. Looks like a 5' needs around 35 to 50 hp. With an offset like you have I may drop to a 4'. I would use it for around home and for some friends. Thanks for the info. Ron

With hydraulic hoses, generally most of the cost is the fittings, the hose its self, isn't that expensive.
My dad got a really good price on hoses for a bucket and an attachment for my machine, we had hose but needed the fittings. We needed about 12 fittings, we got 60 or 80% discount on the fittings and the cost was $350. They were nothing special, just plain 'ol JIC fittings.
Glad you got the hoses at the right price, it always pays to shop around.

Surplus Center has some 120" for about $25 each. Is there any reason these wouldn't work? If so, I'd like to know why so I don't buy the wrong thing for my machine later. If the fittings at the eneds match, i see no reason why it wouldn't work. Even the the fittings are wrong, you can get adaptors to make it match up.

vinito, I didn't check Surplus Center. The final cost was 44.73/ 181" hose with 1 male 1/2 npt and 1- 1/2" female swivel jic fitting. The jic fitting cost more. For two it was 89.46 + 18.99 shipping. thats 108.45 total. Surplus Center may have been a few dollars less. After the $400 price that the local store gave me I was very happy. The hydraulic motor and the hoses will cost less than that. I will get the motor from Surplus Center. I will try to get something done next week. I want to roll the mower over and see what I need to reinforce the deck. Then go from there. Thanks for the info on hoses at Surplus Center. I will see what hoses I need to hook up the mower and get it from them as the shipping will be less for three items. Ron
