Long time lurker, first time poster. I'm looking at buying another machine. An lx565 but can't find much information on the www. Anything you can share would be appreciated. I am especially interested in the travel speed and if that model came with 2 speed as an option or standard or not at all. Any issues to be aware of? Thanks

The 565 is identical to a 665 but no turbo. They are good machines, but are a little underpowered without the turbo. Of course there is also less to go wrong. They are rated for less capacity than a 665, but will lift the same. The 565 became the LS160 and the 665 became the LS170. The engines are the weak point, and they are expensive to rebuild. Also, look for cracks in the boom. 2 speed was NOT available on the smaller machines. Only available on the 885 and up, which is a larger frame machine.

Wow. Thank you so much. Any insight into the engine issues or what engine they have? This machine only has 900 hours but it was started and stopped a lot for forklift duty. Any ideas as to the travel speed?

They have the Shibaura N844 engine. It is a good running engine just don't overheat it or run it low on oil. Doing either of these will cause bottom end problems that end in a rod through the block. Check the machine out for the normal things such as easy starting when cold, no oil burning, no leaks etc etc. I don't know the spec on travel speed but I would say 5-6 MPH.
