I rolled my MT 55 and after getting it upright I removed glow plugs and blew oil out and did an oil change. It ran fine but smoked under load so I thought better take it in for the experts to check it out. They did the same thing I did plus scoped the engine, did a compression and leak down test, installed one new injector and changed all filters. They spent a bit more time cleaning out the exhaust, adjusting the fuel solenoid and checking steering and throttle linkages.
Apparently that took them 26 hours @$200 an hour. Yes... you must surely be thinking the same as me....?
Comments?
Not sure what to do.
That together with the backhoe job described above 44 hours!

sounds like they work very slow at this dealership
DID they give you price up front for service??
or didn;t you ask for one, which is never a good way to go into a shop! kind of gives them an open invitation for adding costs at will! IMO
no bash meant here, just saying, asking for a ballpark estimate is always something I recommend when getting any work done!
as for if you were over charged or not??
maybe what you should do is, get an estimate from another bobcat dealer for the services this one did and compare things, or maybe even try contacting Bobcat, as I would think they would want to know of a dealer over charging, as, Bobcat I am sure has hour estimates for work on there brand equipment, that dealers are supposed to follow, or stay close too,, there are exceptions to rules though

I don't know if any of the above will really help you, I , ,as if your thinking legal actions here, the costs to sue, many times costs more than any recoup on funds, and most dealers know it, and the dealer can most times justify things with stating they ran into issues and such!

but if your determined to find out, again you need to get price quotes from other bobcat dealers, to see where things stand on average for the same repairs

thats a lot of hours for sure but if its dropped of and no guidelines they likely figured work on it till its running, never drop off and open end the work needed, get a estimate or insist any work needs prior approval, hoping the machine works OK now

Why would they take the glow plugs out and spin it over? you already ran the engine, there is no point doing this a second time, If it hydro locked the damage would already be done and only a compression test or removing the head would show if a rod was bent.

A compression test takes 30 mins, that is factoring in taking the injector lines for access just in case they are in the way.

I think they are taking you fro a ride, that much time to do that work is not realistic.

not sure how dealers schedule work but I would assume just like auto shops they have a standard time and procedure format they follow, a specific task has time associated to it and becomes a standard, have you discussed this with the dealer? for a roll over do they have a map to follow for correcting the issues caused by the roll over and if so this could be why they took the glow plugs out even though the motor ran afterwards.

we do all our own work but many times rely on assistance from service tech who is happy to assist, many times if they were not willing to work with us we would be screwed
