Recently my Bobcat's injector pump quit working. I took it apart and found a component stuck due to rust - fix it. While putting everything back together, I realized that when it came time to put the intermediate shaft in, it has a spline and requires specific timing. However, my problem is that there are no marks on the shaft, or anywhere else, that specifies how to correctly calibrate the timing. I searched the internet and have only come up with UK based companies that would sell me a timing repair kit, but I'd like to know of any other options. The type of pump is a Lucas/CAV Pump if that helps out. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

What exactly did you remove?
Did you remove the elements and the holders that they run in? they have like teeth cut on the outside that the rack runs over to adjust fuel flow. Did you remove these at all? or any of the parts lower down? or was it simply the top end where the one way valve is?
If you messed with anything lower i'm afraid it MUST go to a diesel injector shop to get calibrated. They have special gear to measure flow from each delivery valve nozzle which is adjusted by the 3 plates you can see on the side, you move them around to adjust flow for each of the nozzles. One is fixed they just adjust the other 3 to match.
Sorry to give you bad news, but its really a specialised area that needs specific test gear. Thats why i never dig deeper than the one way valve at the top.

The shaft on mine had a skipped spline that only allowed it to be one way. About what Tazza is saying. Very True
Last year when my lycas Cav pump on my N/H quit I did what you are doing. I didnt change any adjustments and got mine running.
After about 80 hours the rpm's started drifting and the govoner didnt seem to be controlling right.
When I had the problems with my pump I asked on the forum about something. Tazza and Ken and others advised me to get it done at a shop. Im hard headed and dont like to pay to rebuild anything. I would rather learn and do it myself. Thats not always possible.
I sent mine to Diesel Care Specialist in Memphis Tenn. They run a rebuild service the have on E-Bay. Rebuild for $375. That replaces all the wear parts and some valves, vane pump/ ect. They said the price was firm unless they found other problems. I let them know I had been inside and it was tightThey have a special table they can mount the pump and hook the lines up and simulate it running.
I took it to a local shop and they wouldnt even give me an estimate. Not Me.
I will try to see if they still have the ebay deal and give the link. They may be able the information you need. I spent a lot of time on the net seaching for information / diagrams. Not much there. Mike

Alright, well, thanks for the feedback. I think I'll have it looked at it and hopefully it'll be up and running in no time. Thanks.

I know you dont have a Ford tractor but take a look at this pump and see if it is like yours. They use these pumps on a lot of a engines. If you give them the numbers off the tag the will tell you if they can do it.I think they can rebuild all injector pumps.
Ford tractor injection injector pump rebuilding service
In my other post I wasnt trying to say you cant rebuild your pump. Mine had a little rust and the plates were stuck. It worked when I Installed it.
I dont think it was ever working right . I thought my loader had plenty of power. It didnt smoke ir miss.It started acting up after about 80 hours so I had it rebuilt by these people. I think I gained 25% in power and the engine sounds much better. I think it was running lean.I had no way to know what was going on.
These people done an exellent job. I sent it from Mo. to Tenn. on a Monday and had it back on a Friday Mike
