My 763 has the BOSS indicating system which seems to be functioning normally with the exception of the water temp indicator. It never indicates more than 2 "bars" on the scale. I found the thermostat had failed (open) and replaced it with a Kubota part (160 degree) and was sure that would solve the problem. Nothing has changed. When I start it cold it shows one bar and after use it shows 2 bars. Is this normal or do I need to invest in a new temp sensor? Thanks in advance!

From: 753 Coolant temp sensor location??
BOSS Water temp Guage
1 Bar cold to 190degrees
2 Bar 190 to 198
3 Bar 198 to 204
4 Bar 204 to 210
5 Bar 210 to 217
6 Bar 217 to 224
7 Bar 224 to 231
8 Bar 230 on up warning sounds
235 engine shutdown
Thanks for the reply! I had found that thread and it left me scratching my head. I could understand those gradients if the engine was designed to run warmer but with a 160 degree failsafe thermostat and a low coolant level monitor it seems like the temp gauge is of little use. Did Melroe really set it up that way?
