763 left steering lever flops into reverese

Our 2000 763 skidsteer steers and drives "normally", but the right steering lever doesn't return to neutral from reverse, and sometimes while going straight forward you have to brace it with a knee to keep it from pulling back to neutral. If not careful it will spin to the side upon starting (sketchy if you forget it's a thing). Linkage looks fine on visual inspection. What pushes the steering level forward to neutral, that seems to not be doing it's job?

you could have a broken spring or the block has come loose, either way you need to lift the cab and see whats going on
