My new to me 743 (1 week old) now has a working battery charging system thanks to you all. It still has electrical wires disconnected. I have the wiring diagram and its the 1) hydraulic fluid pressure switch wire and 2) the engine coolant sender wire. Is the HFP switch on top of the filter and what will it do differently if connected? I can't find the coolant sender, can someone help me locate it.

When the fluid pressure switch is connected it will turn on the transmission warning light on the dash if the charge pressure is low.
I reconnected the hydraulic fluid wire to the top of the filter housing. The thermostat sender is nowhere to be found. There is a large nut (about 1") just below the thermostat housing which I suspect is where the sender should go. Thoughts?

There is a big plug, but there should be a small one too, i think it's 1/8 NPT or something along those lines. I believe some models had it installed into that large nut, it just had an adaptor to take the sender.
I'm pretty sure it is below the thermostat, so you could remove the nut, drill and tap for a sender.

Ordered the coolant temperature sender(about $8) and I smile and say wow thats cheap. "BUT WAIT", says the BC parts person, "there is a service bulletin on this sender, it no longer fits the old temperature gauge you have to buy a new gauge for $30". Should I get the new gauge too? I also ordered 2 fuse holders($8 each) and then I said, wows that really expensive. He didn't have any service bulletins on those.

Go the new gauge, then you KNOW it's right. No sense having a new sender and a gauge that is busted or not calibrated.
You should have gone to your local electronic parts shop for the fuse holders, surely they could be bought cheaper.

Yeah, always keep an eye on your temp. The previous owner put a brand new head on it before I got it....$1000 from kubota. They rarely blow head gaskets but more likely crack heads. I have yet to see mine overheat or even run hot. OP, you might want to find some different tires for your machine or swap them around if possible to get the same size tires on each side..otherwise the larger tire will be pushing or pulling the smaller tire

I found what looks like a bolt just below the thermostat but there is no connector on it and I suspect it may be the broken water coolant sender. I have the parts manual for the 743 but can't seem to find this sender. Hopefully the part will arrive in a week or so per the BC dealer. As far as the tires go, the 909 backhoe stabilizers are so low to the ground that the prior owner may have done this on purpose to improve ground clearance. Thanks again.

Can you look up my profile and send me an e-mail? i may be able to get you a picture of where it is located.

Ditto on having the same tire diameter front and back (per side). Left and right can be different, but front and back per side are linked with a chain. Any chance your 909 stabilizer pads are upside down? Mine are, with one also on backwards so it cannot retract fully. Send me a PM with your email and I'll send you the few 909 parts pages I got from my friendly BC dealer. ...karl

Tazza, I sent the email. Karl, my stabilizer pads are metal only and are so low to the ground when fully retracted ( about 4 inches) that if they had an additional pad underneath there would be almost no ground clearance to go over bumps on the ground or up curbs. Both of the stabilizer cylinders are leaking mildly(upcoming project), but they appear fully retracted. I've tried to post pictures using IE and photobucket to no avail (I've followed Oldmachinists instructions).

Karl I'd like to see the parts list of the 909 backhoe. I can't figure out how to PM on this site and your profile doesn't have an email address. Could you look at my profile an email it to me? Thanks. Ed

Ed, for posting pictures try pasting the html code for {img src="your-Picture-link-here">} into your text. Use <> instead of {} in the example.
I copy the image html code from my Flicker site and then edit it to remove all the extra formating so that it just has the img src= section and then paste it into my post.
Lots of example if you google html codes.

I've tried the other ways with this forum and haven't had much luck making it work. Sometimes its useful to look at the web page source of other posts. I think in IE there is a "View Source" menu item, in google chrome there is a right click "inspect element". Then look for how the img code is formatted.

Look at this! I didn't know anything about HTML code and now I'll be editing HTML image code so that I can post pictures. The HTML tutorial link is outstanding and understandable. Thanks a bunch Max. Ed

Hope you get it figured out, It's always good to see other peoples pictures of what they are working on. Post up a picture of what you think is the broken off temperature sender, if you can. Good luck!

Taryn, Thanks for the pictures. My thermostat sender has broken off just above the nut where the wire would connect. The sender is just below the large nut in the thermostat housing. I'm going to try and post your pictures using the edited HTML image code per Max. Here goes......

Max, it worked! I'm using Google Chrome, right clicked on the photo and got "inspect element". I then copied the
........
which is highlighted and therefore is easy to find and then pasted it into the Skidsteer post. Now I'll try doubling the pixel size to get a larger picture.

I used the Google Chrome browser, right clicked on the photo on Photobucket and got "inspect element". I then copied the highlighted {img src=.........} line of code using <> instead of {} and then pasted it into the Skidsteer post. Now I'll try tripling the pixel size to get a larger size of Tazza's photo. The water coolant sender has the wire coming off the top of it.
