743 blown head gasket

I am new to forum and have a 743B with a blown head gasket. have engine out and removed head and found blown head gasket at #4 cylinder. Everything looks ok inside but compressions were barely within specs when I checked them about 6 months ago so plan to do complete overhaul. Any recommendations on where to get a good quality rebuild kit at a fair price?

It really depends on where you are located, if you're in Australia, i can help you out, of not, ebay is likely your best bet.

For a full overhaul, you will need machine work to be done. If your bores are worn, you need to go over size pistons and rings. Your bearings are likely to be fine, it generally takes lack of servicing to wear bearings.

How just within spec are we talking, what readings did you get?

How does it start, any smoke? how is the blow-by?
