My old 743, has a nearly new Alternator. However it is not charging anymore. I need exact details as to how to "rewire" it. Hoping it is still working. It has very little hours on it.

Start at the battery. Check connections. Move out from there. Did you blow a fuse? Is your ammeter working? Do you have corrosion? What about a pinched or damaged wire loom? Is the engine grounded? Is the bolt tight on the output? Is the voltage regulator working (and does it have a good ground)?

here is how I wire a GM altenator, lots of info on the net, simple, cheap and works 100%, note on some units the ground has to run seperate as the internals are isolated from the housing

Pull the ALT take it to a auto parts store most will bench test it for nothing. If it is good start testing the wiring from the battery to the alt and from the battery to the switch from the switch to the alt and any fuses and or relays.

My alternator is a little different than the G.M. It is more like to original Bobcat type

when I have charging issues on equipment I switch to the old GM altenators, they are cheap from NAPA and easy to hook up, from Bobcat they are too expensive
