742 hydrostatic input seal leak

New owner of basket case 742. Engine is out currently. Was told seal at input to hydrostatic pump from engine is leaking. Is it straitforward to replace? Also lower spool on control valve was leaking? Hoping to reseal hydro and maybe try it to see exact location of control valve leak.

The input seal on the hydrostat can be replaced without taking it apart. It's a good idea to make sure that the shaft doesn't have a groove where the seal sits. You will likely have to pull the spool out of the valve to change that seal.
