Hey all, just found this site. I am working on my 442, I have leak in the fuel cell right where the fuel shut off valve is. I'm assuming it requires replacement. How do I go about removing the tank for this replacement? I also need a new muffler, source? Carb is also giving me fits, I've had it off a couple of time to clean and inspect. It continues to run poorly.

Figured the tank out. You have to unbolt the cab, slide it forward to gain access to tank. Removed it and replaced the rubber grommet and new fuel lines. Will try the carb again and work on figuring out some form of muffler.

I can not find a muffler for that either I would take what you have to a muffler shop and see what they can do

If the carb still gives you trouble take a close look at your ignition. Timing ,points , condenser and such can give you the same symptoms sometime.

Good point jerry, I know the plugs are bad, kind of fouls at times and takes a bit to clean out and run on all four. I have owned this machine for 10-15 years and have never even looked at the points. Might run a file past them, set them at a standard 20 thou?

haha, there is nothing to take in. I figured to take it in and have custom fit a little glass pac or something.
