I have a 2006 236b. I bought a service manual and from what I read I can use the same oil for the engine and the transmission. Am I reading it correctly? Would be very handy to only need one oil for all of it. My other question is what oil brand are you all using? I of course want the least expensive option that wont cause damage to my machine. I went to a local place and bought Chevron 10w-40 heavy duty diesel engine oil to do an oil change. It cost me just over $70 for 3 gallons. Is there a better option for the same money or less? I appreciate any input I can get. Thank you.

That's a bit steep, to be sure. I just checked the Bi-Mart ad and they have 2.5 gallon jugs of Dello 400 for $28.

Yes, you CAN use a 15W40 in chain cases and engine. Depends on where you live and how cold it gets. I run 5W40 synthetic in my engine and 10W30 regular in my chain cases.
