Go to the case or messicks web site and pull up the parts diagram. There should be a 1" diameter snap ring that holds the parking pin from pulling out. ( there is a spring there too. ) It looks like the later ones used a slotted tube and a horse shoe clip.
Pull the snap ring then pull the slug out and the cable stub should unscrew from there.
