My uncle use to be a heavy equipment operator and I remember one thing he said about longevity. He would run his equipment somewhere around 80% operating speed to increase it's life?. I'm not sure that's true but it sounds reasonable......Is it?

From what i have been told this is true. It puts less load on the pumps as they are running at the correct speeds etc. If you have it at idle it puts more force on the pumps to get them to do the same work. Or so i was told.

It depndeds on hat you mean by operating speed; are you talking engine speed, ground speed, or literally "operating sped" of machine with operator. If you meant engine speed, Nwe Holland recommends "full or near full throttle".

if you run at 80 percent throttle you have some in reserve if things get bad if it is at 100 you've got no reserve power and it could be bad my 2c................Jeff
