Considering adapting a 4-way tractor plow to my 743. Have you guys purchased any hoses for attachments? How much do they run? I have the typical 1/2" flat face couplers on the 743 and 3/8" fittings on a Ford 702 plow. I would buy a quick-tach adapter plate and weld or bolt on an adapter to...
Yes, the pickup line was replaced in the past with a regular line with no clamp which fell off and had to be fished out of the tank. You have to put the grommet in before the steel fitting and it's just a whole lot easier using the stuff from Bobcat, all of which came to about $20.
I ordered the switch, also checked on the price of a cab wiring harness. $169, less than I expected, but still quite a bit for what's involved. Going to try DeOxit D5 to clean the terminals, the can I have is a lower strength for gold terminals on audio equipment.
The transmission oil temperature switch? That would be normally open and close on high temp? I don't think it would turn the light on with the ignition key. There is a hydraulic fluid filter condition switch on top of the filter. Does that only close if there is a problem? It is currently open...
Got them into the new sockets. I believe there are special tools to release the retainer springs, I'll have to experiment with some thin wire or something. Next job is replacing the pressure sender switch. I have about 39 0hms when the machine is not running- if I jumper the switch the hydraulic...
I bought new sockets for my transmission and engine indicator lights. The sockets are nothing more than plastic holders for the copper terminations on the end of the wiring harness. The reason I bought the sockets was due to the corrosion in the existing sockets. Now I can't get the wires out of...
Reed, thanks, I have those two grounds and they are good. I thought there might be a separate ground for the cab frame harness. My problems were in the connectors.
Thank you Antfarmer, I pulled the connectors apart and the prong for the power conductor was corroded through and broke off. Spliced that and cleaned the connectors with a small wire brush and sprayed them with DeOxit. The lights now work as well as the ignition switch. My temp gauge works but...
Pump the rubber bulb primer with the knurled valve on the injector pump open. The bulb should be full of fluid and you should hear fuel dumping into the tank as you pump. Close the valve before you start the engine. Unless it is cold right now where you live the glow plugs should not even come...
Hi, New to the forum, I have a 1989 743, gauges, lights and ignition switch not working. Black grounds on lights have no continuity to ground. Trying to trace back to a frame ground but do not see one for the cab harness. Thanks for any advice you can offer.
