    Kohler engine

I have an old Kohler engine for a M500 Melroe. I have dissassembled it, in the hopes I could rebuild it, but I decided to re-power. The carb. and magneto have already been traded. Is you need a part give me a shout and I will make you a good deal, I hate to see these parts go to the metal...

    M500 hydraulic pressure

I'll try your test on the cylinders to see if they are leaking by the piston seals. I can't say if they leak down, I don't leave the bucket up in the air very long, but I can test that also. Busy until after Christmas now, but thanks for the ideas. I try that when I get time.

    M500 hydraulic pressure

I actually adjusted the main relief a little, to increase pressure, just to see if it( the bucket lift) improved. However, I have no idea what it is suppose to be(hydraulic spec), my dealer only could get me a manual for a 610, so I don't know the spec. on the pressure for the old M500. The...

    M500 hydraulic pressure

I plugged both extension supply lines to my lift cylinders with a gauge on one, and got 1900 psi. Does that sound about right?

    M500 hydraulic pressure

Could I just plumb a gauge in at the boom lift and see what the pressure is there? What should operating pressure be? Would I be best off to have a tee arrangement, so fluid is still supplied to the cylinder or should I dead head the line?

    M500 hydraulic pressure

How do you check and adjust the hydraulic pressure on a M500? I have three stock gauges on my machine, two are high pressure guages (up to about 2500 psi) the other is lower (I believe below 200 psi). The only one that reads pressure at all is the low pressure one? Don't know if I have bad...

    M500 sprocket nut

Yep, thats the nut, its like a 1 3/8 thread size. I think Melroe's intention is the torque of the fastener to retain it(manual says 450 ft/lbs). There is suppose to be a flat lock washer that you bend over one of the nut "flats", it is in the service manual. My machine has them in place...

    M500 sprocket nut

The M500 is a Melroe 500, its not a foreign model, built and designed in good old North Dakota, my homeland. On that subject, I actually have come to the conclusion, I may have Melroe 600, but for conversation purposes this do not matter. I hear what you are saying about a tab on the lock washer...

    M500 sprocket nut

I have a question about the final drive sprocket nut and retaining washer. I bought a dead M500 and during my repower project, I noticed one of the rear inner wheel bearing hubs was cracked in two places. So, I opened up the chain case on that side, to find the sprocket nut had backed out to the...

    sprocket wear

So far the only thing I found was some parts of a master chain link. All the chains are in place, so someone must of dropped the parts when doing a repair. I think I will replace a couple of worn sprockets, still need to check and see if the chains have any stiff spots also. Thanks, Randy

    belt drive

I would, can't speek for the condition of them, never ran the engine, just pulled it out to replace it. You can email me at [email protected] Thanks, Randy

    Rusty gas tanks

There are alot of coatings than could be used, however, they all rely on the fact that you can shake and lean the tank all directions for even coats of the process. They usually require two stages of prep. solution and then the main coating. However, they are thinking you have a small tank in...
