Damaged lift cylinder head - repair or replace?

If it were mine, I'd replace it. True the wiper has little pressure on it but that's only one of the functions the gland provides. I might even go so far as to ask how the gland got in such bad shape. Every time you need to replace the seals on that cylinder, you'll need to first remove that...

    Bobcat 751 - seized

I had the same problem with my Kobota 1902B. Turns out the vertical muffler had rusted and allowed water into a cylinder via an open exhaust valve. I too changed the starter and battery, but nothing could get that engine to turn over due to hydro lock. I pulled the head, removed the water...

    New member and Desperate

For what it's worth, the device shown in the picture above looks more like a flow control device rather than a "filter". I know nothing about Bobcat hydraulics but on my Thomas, I have two flow control devices mounted on the pilot controls that are used to restrict flow to a specific direction...

    Backhoe mounting brackets for 607/709

If you have no idea what they're worth, how can you know if the offer is any good?

    T870 Lift Cylinder Removal Tips?

A second piece of equipment is a very good idea. How about an excavator? Pricy I know, but well worth it. Good luck.

    T870 Lift Cylinder Removal Tips?

I'm never a fan of working on my loader with several hundred pounds of metal suspended over my head. The guy in the video got one thing spot on, we don't all have cranes to add a second layer of protection. Fortunately, my loader has horizontal lift cylinders which can be removed with the boom...

    743 bucket rocks by hand

Mine does the same thing, but I have 2 tilt cylinders, one on either side. I imagine it's a common issue. Both cylinders also leak, so one of these days I'll need to fix both issues.

    9 Ton Equipment Trailer

That would suppose the engineers who designed the trailer got the axle position wrong. I find that notion to be somewhat lacking in basis. Every time we load a trailer, we remain aware of the balance and adjust the location of center of mass of the load accordingly, However, empty weight is...

    Got 743 stuck :-(

I once had an old-timer tell me you should never own just one piece of heavy equipment. When it gets stuck, and it will, you have no way of getting it out.

    Blue Devil Hydraulic Stop leak

I recently replumbed my backhoe. The supplier where I get my high-pressure hoses told me that high-pressure hydraulic hoses have a life of 10 years. When I told him I've owned my backhoe for more than 30 years and just now saw the need to change the hoses, he told me to buy a Lottery Ticket...

    9 Ton Equipment Trailer

Now you're scaring me. Hand me the Focus Factor.

    9 Ton Equipment Trailer

You are correct. I could have sworn I read that you wanted to move the forward axle further forward. I must be losing my mind.

    9 Ton Equipment Trailer

I would think moving one of the 3 axles forward might make the problem worse. The first thing I would check is to verify that the empty weight distribution is in fact negative tongue weight or if it is simply the combined fulcrum of the 3 axles is just too stiff to allow the tongue to go down...

Are parking brakes / emergency brakes really used much, if at all?

My loader is a 1980's era Thomas T133. The brakes are disks and pads, and really small pads at that.
