Eastern SD 32 acre farm. Had a new Gehl 4240 for 7 years and sold it and bought a Gehl R135. Went with Gehl because they make them right here in eastern SD.

My 4240 did something like that and it ended up being the door sensor. It moved a fraction of centimeter to make it think the door was ajar and shut down the ability to satart the engine.

Why not just use the filter Gehl recommends? They are not that expensive. I Googled "GEHL 195568 cross reference oil filter" and got good results.

For peace of mind, I ended up jacking the skidsteer sideways a few inches and removed the tires and chaincase cover to add another 2 quarts of oil. Feel much better now! LOL.

0W40 is what I use in my Gehl. The book mentions several different weights depending on how cold it get where you are. As far as Firefighter said for the hydraulics. If you don't know when the last time the hydraulic filter was changed, do that too. And if it's diesel engine make sure it says...

Not sure if it made a difference that the town I live in has a Gehl plant and a dealer that sells Gehl eqipment, but I placed an order for a R135 and Gehl had it done in about 6 weeks or so.
