New (used) skid steer broke before I even it off of the trailer!

So I just picked up a 'Raider XL' mini skid steer and even test drove it around before I bought it. I loaded it up on my trailer and as soon as I got it home I fired it up and the drive train completely went dead. Apparently there is some kind of a flexible 'plate' between the engine and...

    Weird Boiling Gas Problem.....

Do you think it could be heat from the engine that is heating it up? I was thinking it was the heat from the hydraulic fluid since they are both in the same divided tank. There are two tanks on the skid steer, one on the left and one on the right, both tanks are divided in two with hydraulic...

    Weird Boiling Gas Problem.....

Good point. That brings up something I hadn't thought of.... I live in the mountains at 8700 feet elevation. I'm sure that makes the problem worse because I think water here boils around 80F. I bet if I brought my skidsteer down to the shop in the city at the base of the mountains it's a good...

    Weird Boiling Gas Problem.....

Actually I didn't feel the tanks to see how hot they were. I did buy new gas caps that are supposed to be vented. They are supposed to vent fumes but not allow liquids. I guess they are not working properly? I've been reading up on gasoline boiling points and it seems that there is a huge range...

    Weird Boiling Gas Problem.....

Hi, I have 1974 Case 1737 skid steer and I was running it today for about two hours and all of the sudden it stalled like it was running out of gas. It only stalled/sputtered for a second and then ran for about five minutes and stalled again just for a second (and the engine didn't quit when it...

Check out my new skid steer radiator overflow tank! (Case 1737)

I've just put the finishing touches on my skid steer and now it runs like a champ and is ready to do some real work! I've searched the net and found that many people with this Case 1737 skid steer (made back in the 1970s) have a problem with the antifreeze coming out of the radiator every time...

Check out my new skid steer mirrors!

I was going to weld something up and even had the angle iron cut until I realized that I could make it without any welding at all. Works great and I can even lift a load several feet off the ground and drive around with a good view in the mirrors.

Check out my new skid steer mirrors!

On another post I was talking about putting some mirrors on my bobcat for loading onto a trailer. I finally came up with a simple cheap design that works great. I'm posting so you can get some ideas and copy it if you want. Here's the link, Enjoy! http://www.capsandstems.com/ed/bobcat_mirrors.htm

Hydraulic Fluid Filter - Reverse Threads?

I'm in Colorado and Tool King is a great store and has more stuff than just about anywhere. I usually don't find that I break tools unless I'm using the wrong tool for the job. For example, I used to break ratchets all the time until I switched over to breaker bars for the tuff stuff. Now I...

    1999 763 electrical problem..please help

OH MAN I hate computers, and sensors, and electronics. That's why I have an old skid steer from 1974, real ez to work on and lots of elbow room too! I would say that price sounds about right for a new computer. If you have enough down time, maybe you can check around and look for a used one. Try...

Hydraulic Fluid Filter - Reverse Threads?

Wow, that's expensive! I find tool king to be the cheapest place around for big odd size tools. I paid $69.95 for a set of 14 wrenches from 1 and 1/16 to 2 inches, that's only five bucks a wrench. Here's a similar tool set at tool king but they have a cheaper one just like it for $69.95. It's on...

Can't pull drain plugs for hydraulic fluid....

No, it's different than an 1840 from what you are saying. I read the owners manual, it has two interconnected hydraulic oil tanks, one on each side and also two gas tanks, one on each side. Looks like it's a split oil / gas tank on each side with a total of four drain plugs, two for gas and two...

Hydraulic Fluid Filter - Reverse Threads?

Well I bought some tools and I got my hydraulic filter off! I went to Lowes but they didn't have the right tools so I went to Tool King and got a bunch of 1/2 drive stuff, I spent about a hundred bucks but tools are always worth it. I finally got it with a breaker bar, 8 inch extension and I...

Can't pull drain plugs for hydraulic fluid....

I got them out! I was about to grind down my 9 mm when I decided to check to see if it would fit theother plugs. Three out of four plugs were stock (two gas plugs and one hydraulic plug) but one hydraulic plug was a 9 mm! So I didn't want to grind down my one and only 9 mm since it fit one side...

Hydraulic Fluid Filter - Reverse Threads?

That's what I thought too, must be regular threads not reverse. I guess I'll buy a 1/2 inch drive socket, breaker bar and extension and a big pipe and crank on it some more. The only thing I'm really worried about is that there is a threaded pipe between the filter housing and the hydraulic pump...
