Sounds like you are using the trigger (activated by your pointer finger) which can latch on. Without knowing what series machine you have I can only guess. You should only need the thumb switch to control the plow.

I forgot to mention that you should check all the wires that are not in the wire loom first. When I fixed my machine I pulled all the wire out of the loom, only to find the break right before a connector where it came out of the wire loom. It is also possible that the wire loom can wear away...

I don't know how similar the S150 is to my 1998 763, but I had a similar problem with the traction lock. I was getting a short to ground on the pull coil for the brake. It turned out to be a wire that lost its insulation by rubbing on a clamp. My "break" happened right before the wire harness...

I would suspect a bad ground. I would disconnect the wiring and run jumper leads right to the battery. Pay attention to the positive and negative terminals. If its louder, you probably have a bad ground somewhere, or dirty connection.

Update: We ended up moving the machine with a ramp truck. I drained the hydraulic tank and the fluid smelled burnt. It also had small metal particles in it. When I pulled the pump I notice the spline shaft snapped in half. It appears to have fractured where the shaft would enter the splined...
