Yes yes i know, you are all getting sick of my posts on 743s but the latest machine i'm working on i made a small boo boo. I have installed just about everything and i have been running it to get the air out. I went to give it another run yesterday and i saw a pool of oil under the chain case. I couldn't work out where it was coming from. It turns out i didn't seal the chain case covers quite well enough. I didn't think i used enough silicone but thought it would be ok... WRONG. When ever you remove these covers put HEAPS of silicone on them or you will be sorry. Especially the groove in the top, thats where i think mine is leaking from. I have patched it from the outside as best as i can hopefully it will hold as its the park brake and the pump sits rite over the top limiting access. I have the same problem with another 743 i have, i will have to fix it one day....
Just a small thing you will kick your self later if you don't do it... Trust me on that!
*end rant*

Tazza I love your 743 posts!! Keep the good word coming..
I'm a sucker for punnishment! i'm almost finished my 3rd re-build... It always seems like a good idea at the time but when you get 1/2 way through you just want it to be finished :)

I pick up what I can from the forum but some of it is over my head. It is evident that you have a special knack for the Bobcat Machine. Do you resell them or do you keep them for personal use? By the way what time zone are you on, don't you live in Austrailia?

The first machine i bought was a 731, i bought it to do work around the yard. I then got hold of an old burnt out 743 that i built up. The idea was to sell the 731 when i was happy with the 743 but between the time i started on the 743 i got another 2 machines! They were nice and cheap but needed a fair bit of work. At that point i knew i needed to sell them as i had so much tied up in them. I actually did ok. So now i keep an eye out for any dead or cheap machines it helps pay the bills for my hobbies i guess.
My time zone is GMT +10, Brisbane Australia.
I have always tinkered with mechanical things and i had a lot of help from good friend who unfortunatly passed away a few weeks back. I was fortunate enough for him to teach me a lot about machining which has really helped with the repairs i do.

Cool stuff and thanks for the insight. I am sure that Brisbane is a beautiful place and maybe one day I can visit the down under. I am very sorry about your friend he must have been a really special person. Hang in there and keep up the good work. Sorry for using the post for small talk if I offended anyone.

Thanks for the kind words. He was indeed a great person, always had the time to help anyone out and was a wealth of knowledge. He will surely be missed. If it was any indication of his life, the church was PACKED with family and friends (mostly friends) of at least 200 people.
If you ever do visit Brisbane, be sure its not during our summer which is December-Feb. The temperatures are fairly high but the humidity........ Its not un-common to have 95-98% days and 35-40 C temperatures. Thankfully its usually only 1-2 weeks, you make do.
I'm sure no one will mind the off topic thread, everyone in here seems very polite and don't snap when we don't stay on topic or post in the wrong section like other forums do.....
