I just found this on Bobcat's web site. Press Release
What does this mean?
1. Bobcat is planning for our Gen-X children to be more comfortable operating the loaders.
2. Bobcat is trying to make it easier on those of us who can't handle the pounding on our older bodies.
3. They thought Mattel would partner (until the unfortunate Mattel recalls...)
4. Two engineers were talking and one said "I bet you I could do that sitting on my couch."
5. Thousands will add this to their Christmas lists this year.
Your thoughts?

If it wasn't on the Bobcat site I'd have thought it was a spoof.
TaDa video proof. Show Me the Video!
I'm still sitting here with a smile on my face.

I wouldn't mind using that while wailing away on my jackhammer, makes it easier to spots the little oil leaks that seem to annoy me when doing week long jobs.

Also, I keep forgetting to mention, I own 4 radio controlled nitro powered vehicles, so this would be a breeze for me!

I heard a rumor about this a while back. Someone told me the Army has some skid steers that are remote controlled and have a camera on the loader. The remote has a monitor so you can see "from the operator seat". I don't know if they were "Bobcat's".
It would break my heart to accidently run over an IUD and watch it blow sky-high...

What a cool toy ,looks like most of you may also have to get a sjc controlled machine as well for christmas. I wonder what sort of $$$ will get santa to leave one?

I thought of more possibiites last night, if I land another trenching job with my mini Hitachi and I need someone to run mt T190 with the dumping hopper to hold and carry the spoil, I can just stay in the cab of the excavator and operate the hopper! No second operator!!

hehehe, I can think of a few more sinister things to do with that: * You park machine and someone tries to steal it, they get stuck in it while you take them for a "ride of their life" * Don't tell anybody at construction site and hide in the bushes to operate On the serious side, you would have to be close enough to see what you are doing, so you might still be in dangers way. Maybe a camera on loader and screen on remote control unit so you can be a save distance away so you won't get hurt trying to disable land mines........ My 2 cents worth

Either way, the next time I do another demolition of another 60+ foot concrete silage silo I might be considering the Remote, last silo I did was a 3000 ton, 75 foot silo that scared the crap out of me when it didn't start leaning enough, so I had to go into harms way and give it "some persuasion".

I used to run a rc stump grinder. Very convenient to use. You could be walking around figuring out your next move while you were moving it around. I t was also nice to be away from the noise and flying debris.

we were at a landscape trade show 3 years ago and toro had a dingo loader set up with remote control. as we were walking by and saw the dingo moving i first thought the operator fell off.

I been around a few different types of remote machines , there was one of those 440 volt Takeuchi concrete demolishtion excavators a few years back that worked by a tethered wire , so as to keep the operator out of harms way , good thing as the roof caved in on top of it while breaking concrete inside a building , ------ one interesting set up that I have seen years ago being used down here inside of oil storage tanks is a remote power pack on a 7 series Bobcat loader , they take the engine out the machine and mount it on a skid with a hydraulic pump with long hydraulic hoses that run in the back of the machine and are plumbed into the hydraulics and are helded up by an antenna looking rod on the rear of the machine , the operator wears what looks like a Kirby Morgan dive mask and has oxygen bottles mounted to the cab , he's in a jump suit with rubber gloves and boots , don't envy him at all , wouldn't even want to try it , there is a swomper who handles the hoses from getting wrapped in the tires at the opening of an access hole cut in the side on gigantic storage tanks at ground level , and they push a real thick black slug of crude oil in the bottom of the tank , which I have seen 3 ft deep , during their clean out operation , ----needles to say working on a machine that is even on the outside the tank during this process is a mess

I'd love to see that, that's gotta be cumbersome!
