I just bought an as is-where is 2006 Toolcat 5600 from the US Government.
No hours were listed in the auction description and it was noted that the Toolcat will start but not move. The Toolcat came with all the panels unscrewed, an extra display controller sitting in the cab, and an extra wiring harness as well. Somebody clearly tried to birddog the no-drive issue, maybe bought or had another controller floating around the shop, maybe thought about putting in a new harness and finally said "Screw it. Sell it."
I have not started it yet - I'm in the process of putting in a new battery, changing all the fluids, and inspecting the old filters for metal particles before I fire it up.
With that as a backdrop, I also bought the Bobcat Service Analyzer software v92.07 and interface device hardware to read the codes, diagnose the issues, and get it working again.
The display controller shows 300 hours on the machine and lots of codes: 30-09, 50-06, 50-63, 50-57, 50-30, 50-13, 50-14, and 50-15.
When I connected the Service Analyzer software, I got a report showing service codes, picture below. I'm not looking for help resolving the codes - I'll get to that with the service manual and electrical service manual.
What struck me was the hour meter differential. The two controllers clearly talk to each other, which leads to my questions:

- Recognizing this report is titled "Toolcat Drive", are the printed codes on/from the Drive Controller, as opposed to the Display Controller?
- Does the Display Controller maintain the engine hour meter, and then feed that number to the Drive Controller as needed to log Service Codes like the ones in my report?
- Is it correct to assume that on/after hour 2098, the Display Controller was replaced, and then ran for 300 hours, making the machine total hours 2398?
- Or, could it have been a used controller with 300 hours that was installed on hour 2098, but did not fix any of the drive issues, and the machine has 2098 hours?
- Or, could it have been a used DRIVE controller with 2081 hours that was installed/
- The date codes for the drive controller are 0617 and for the display controller, 1706. If their date codes are 2 digit year followed by 2 digit week of that year, then the drive controller is the original and the display controller is the replacement. The other display controller is a Toolcat controller, but not the correct one for my serial number.
- Can Bobcat service codes be erased, as is done with automobiles and OBDII?
- If a code show up on the report, does that mean it has not been resolved?
- Are codes only "polled" by the computer intermittently? As in, if there is an active code, why doesn't it show up every hour? Asked another way, look at the report and code 50-15. It shows up at hours 2081, 2087, 2093 (three times), and 2098. Did the code only show up intermittently those times? Depending on hour meter rounding, could that be a code that is only looked for/reported every 5 hours of operation?
